The Yorkshire Academy of Chocolate & Patisserie (YACP) will use all reasonable endeavours to provide courses of high quality that are both enjoyable and value for money. These terms and conditions have been written to ensure that there are no misunderstandings that could detract from your enjoyment of our courses. Please take time to read them carefully.
Reservation and Payment
Places on any YACP course are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we have received full payment.
All fees are to be paid in full at the time of booking.
On booking and paying for a course(s), you will receive a booking and payment confirmation by email.
All necessary ingredients and equipment essential for the course subject, plus the use of an apron if required. YACP will also provide a light lunch, plus tea and coffee at appropriate times during the day.
What's Not Included
Prices do not include accommodation or travel.
Here at YACP, we offer a range of courses that cover all skill levels from beginner to seasoned professional. We require attendees to honestly self-assess their own skill level as we cannot be held liable if you book a course that is in reality, above or below your actual skill level.
If you have any doubts about your suitability to be on one of our courses, please contact us before booking so we can help to ascertain your level of skill/experience.
Health and Safety
The equipment used in the Academy kitchen and Chocolate Room, and the techniques involved on a course pose certain hazards. Please follow the course instructor’s guidance on hygiene, handling any equipment and on any technical procedures very carefully. Most of the course will be spent standing (although there is seating available should you choose to rest). Please wear comfortable non-slip shoes ensuring toes are covered, and casual lightweight clothing – we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing. Please remove any watches, jewellery or other items of loose clothing that may cause inconvenience and ensure that long hair is tied back.
Please advise us at the time of booking of any dietary requirements or food allergies that you have. We cannot be held responsible for any issues arising from not being informed in advance.
We expect you to report and pay for any careless damages and breakages to YACP equipment where appropriate.
There is no smoking anywhere inside the buildings.
Should your behaviour be considered unacceptable, then YACP reserves the right to exclude you from any courses for which you have enrolled. If you are removed from a forthcoming training event and YACP in unable to resell your place, you will not be entitled to a refund.
Cancellations, Refunds and Course Transfers
YACP operates a cancellation policy that allows customers to change a course booking without penalty when enough notice is given. However, courses at YACP are arranged up to 12 months in advance with tutors who work and teach internationally. Therefore, we often find it hard to resell a cancelled place within 3 months of the course start date without it having an impact on our business and other students. Consequently, we have some conditions around short notice cancellations.
Should you have a need to cancel your booking, please inform us in writing via email or by post. You have a legal right to cancel your place on a course within 14 days of having booked and paid in full. Within this time period you will receive a full refund. All monies will be returned to you within 7 working days of receiving your written cancellation notice. PLEASE NOTE – if your chosen course has been booked within 14 days of its commencement, you will you waive your statutory right to cancel with a full refund.
If your cancellation is within 3 months of the start of your course, we will relist your place for resale. Should we be unable to resell your place during that time, no refund will be given and you will forfeit all course fees.
If we are able to resell your place, we will issue you a refund for the amount that your space was eventually sold for. We will issue you a payment within 7 working days from when we receive payment from the resale transaction.
No refund will be made if you fail to attend all or any part of the course.
All refunds are made to the source of the initial payment, ie. fees paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card.
Should you request to swap your booking to another course at a later date, this will only be agreed at the discretion of YACP after receiving a request in writing. Should the new course be priced higher than the original booking, you will be required to pay the price difference within 7 days to secure your place. If the newly requested course be of lesser value than your original choice, you will forfeit the difference in value. Transfer of a booking may only be made once.
YACP recommends that all students consider arranging travel insurance that will help to cover your costs should you be unable to attend your course.
We cannot be held liable for any third-party costs, such as travel bookings or accommodation under such circumstances.

All course notes provided to support students are issued for personal use only. Sharing of YACP/Andrew Thwaite course material by photocopy, print, email, internet or other digital mediums is strictly prohibited without the written permission of Andrew Thwaite.
All course fees and dates are as quoted at the time of going to press. We reserve the right to make alterations as and where relevant. You will be notified immediately of any changes.
Customers are asked to be sensitive to the privacy and enjoyment of other participants when taking any photographic or video footage during our classes.
